STEM Talent Management: Is Your Company Prepared To Compete? Strategies and Solutions for C-Suite Executives and Hiring Managers

7:30 am–11:30 am, Tuesday, October 7th

Monroe Community College Brought to you by Digital Rochester and STEM-SMART

It is now well known and widely accepted that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) talent is critical for the future of the United States and the global economy. STEM degrees as a proportion of total degrees granted are nearly at the same level as they were in 2000, although STEM skills will be required in nearly 50% of future jobs, according to U.S News and World Report. In short, supply is far less than demand, both in terms of numbers and desired skills set. “There is a mismatch of skills and jobs, of supply and demand, and the challenge is to get them aligned again,” according to Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News & World Report.

Cities and regions throughout the US are therefore competing heavily for exceptional STEM talent and Western New York is no different. Amidst growing concerns that the US is not producing enough qualified candidates who are ready to fill emerging high-tech careers, many organizations are investing resources to identify and recruit top-notch STEM talent and are taking steps to fill the STEM pipeline to meet the emerging talent needs of tomorrow.

Speakers and panelists in this half-day conference, targeted at C-suite executives and hiring managers, will highlight the opportunities and challenges facing Western New York in the STEM talent arena and recommends strategies and solutions to assist employers find the right talent.
