In celebration of 2026 National Engineers Week, please join the Rochester Engineering Society for an evening celebrating engineering! The evening will feature networking, a showcase of Rochester’s technical societies, dinner, and a presentation by Mike Kurdziel on Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.

Mike Kurdziel, Director and Senior Fellow, Systems Engineering and Technology, L3 Harris Technologies
Mike Kurdziel serves Senior Fellow – Information Assurance and Director of the Systems Engineering Functional Organization for the Communication & Spectrum Dominance (CSD) Segment – Mission Critical Communications (MCC) sector of L3Harris Technologies. He has served in roles of increasing responsibility with company since 1992.
Dr. Kurdziel earned Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He holds 21 patents and has authored/coauthored over 40 publications all dealing with military communications applications. He is recognized as a published industry authority in the Information Assurance field and various Cyber Security technologies.
Mike received the “Inventor of the Year Award” from the Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association (RIPLA) in 2019. He has served as the Technical Program Chairman and other leadership roles for the IEEE / AFCEA MILCOM conferences.
Mike serves as the chairman for the Segment’s Intellectual Property Management Committee and the Publication Incentive Program. In addition, he serves on the Rochester Engineering Society Board of Directors, the RIT Computer Engineering Department Industrial Advisory Board, the RIT Computer Science Department Industrial Advisory Board and the State University of New York at Buffalo Department of Computer Science and Engineering Dean’s Advisory Board. He has been a licensed “Professional Engineer” (License No. 069432) in the State of New York since 1992 and is PMP certified by the Professional Management Institute (PMI).
Mike proudly serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY where he teaches Introduction to Cryptography and Applied Cryptography courses.
Finally, Mike lives in North Chili, New York with his wife, Colleen. He and Colleen have raised three sons Robert, Christopher and Alexander. He enjoys participating in various roles for the FIRST Robotics Program and has served as assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America Troop 133 in Churchville, New York.
